The Calgary Flames have hired Phoenix Coyotes assistant general Brad Treliving as their GM, according to reports by the CBC and TSN. Treliving will replace Jay Feaster, who was fired in December. Team President Brian Burke had been the acting GM in the interim.

Treliving had spent the past seven seasons in his role with the Coyotes, where he worked closely with team GM Don Maloney and also served as GM of the organization’€™s AHL affiliate in Portland.

TSN’s Darren Dreger reports that the Flames will announce the news today.

Treliving will be tasked with turning around a team that has missed the playoffs five consecutive seasons and is coming off a second-to-last place finish in the Western Conference in 2013-14.
