The Edmonton Oilers have traded 2010 No. 1 overall NHL draft pick Taylor Hall to the New Jersey Devils for defenseman Adam Larsson, both teams announced Wednesday.

The 24-year-old Hall has spent his entire career in Edmonton, where the left wing has 132 goals, 196 assists and a 2016 All-Star appearance in his six-year tenure with the Oilers.

Larsson was drafted fourth overall by the Devils in 2011. The 23-year-old defenseman scored three goals and had 15 assists in 82 games last season.

The trade occured just two days before the NHL’s free agency period, which begins Friday. Both teams are looking for a boost after missing out on the 2016 playoffs.
