Good morning Chicago Blackhawks fans! The Chicago Blackhawks went back in time to the 1980’s last night when they visited the Edmonton Oilers, where they got demolished in a city where they never used to win 5-0. It was ugly just like those visits to Edmonton were way back when.
The Chicago Blackhawks have been flirting with disaster most of the season, but on the circus trip two of the three times they have danced with ugliness they have come home with it. In Vancouver they were lucky enough to make a huge comeback win, but in Winnipeg and Edmonton last night they just weren’t that good.
When you play on the road getting behind early isn’t a good thing, but that’s been the Chicago Blackhawks game in a nutshell all season long. Last night, they were down 2-0 early and never were able to recover.

The funny thing is after their thrilling 4-3 comeback win in Vancouver, you would have thought that the Hawks would carry a ton of momentum in to Edmonton and steamroll them on their home rink. That formula or thought process never came to fruition, and for the 2nd time in 4 games on the circus trip the Hawks have been shut out after scoring 2 or more goals in the first 15 games to start the season.
You do have to hand it to the Edmonton OIlers, they played fast and played their game last night, and they never let the Chicago Blackhawks get anything going while Cam Talbot stopped the few good chances the Hawks had on Monday night.
The good news is that it’s the NHL which means you have a few bad games a season, and you throw them out of the memory bank and move on to the next city. Next up, San Jose.
