Chicago Blackhawks Morning Links- Missing The Island

Updated Mar. 5, 2020 12:36 a.m. ET

Good morning Chicago Blackhawks fans! The Chicago Blackhawks finish off their New York City trip tonight when they face-off against the New York Islanders in Brooklyn.

One of the best teams of my youth were the New York Islanders and they had some all-time greats on that team, but for me my favorite player on the Islanders was Billy Smith.

Of course, my favorite Chicago Blackhawk was Al Secord so those that fought during my youth were my favorite players, but they also had to be good at their position.

So, it was rather interesting to me that one player (I believe it was Thomas Vanek) that said he would have stayed if the Islanders continued to play on Long Island instead of moving to their new digs in Brooklyn.

The stories of the Islanders and Nassau Coliseum are great ones for a team that hasn’t been around as long as the Original 6 teams have been around, but they were a great team with Hall of Famers on their roster and part of me wants them to be very good again.

The Chicago Blackhawks will be looking for a New York sweep tonight, and with the Captain Jonathan Toews back in the lineup there’s a good chance they can do it.  He might not score like he did in his youth, but he still does everything great.
