Calgary Flames left wing Micheal Ferland is "getting closer" to reaching a contract extension with the team, Sportsnet's Roger Millions reported.
A restricted free agent, Ferland collected two goals and three assists in 26 games during his rookie season in 2014-15.
The 23-year-old Manitoba native stepped it up in the playoffs, scoring three times and setting up two others as the upstart Flames advanced into the second round before getting eliminated by the Anaheim Ducks.
