Last year, Zemgus Girgensons finished with the most votes leading up to the all star game. He had nearly 1.6 million votes, which sent him to the All-Star Game.

He was an odd candidate to lead the vote, and many believe Latvia, Girgensons’ home country, may have had something to do with it.

Last year, Girgensons finished with 15 goals and 15 assists in 61 games. That’s a pretty solid season.

But this year, in his first 21 games, Girgensons is off to a really slow start, with just two goals and two assists in his first 21 games.

Girgensons recognizes that he probably isn’t an all star, and he made a plea to his beloved fans.

That translates to "With all due respect to the fans, please do not vote for me for this year’s All-Star Game! Such things must be earned!"

So, settle down, Latvians and Girgensons fans. Don’t vote for him, but please, please continue making videos like these for him.
