Avalanche rookie gets shower from the bench after scoring first NHL goal
Victories and special moments have been tough to come by for the Colorado Avalanche this season, but Wednesday night in Denver was a pretty good one.
Not only did the Avs defeat the Red Wings 3-1, but one of those three goals came from 21-year-old rookie forward J.T. Compher. It was the first goal (and point) in The Show for the 2013 second-round pick.
One of Compher’s Avalanche teammates, captain Gabriel Landeskog, found a unique way to celebrate the milestone moment — by blasting him in the face with water as he skated by the bench for fist bumps. The timing and execution by Landeskog was immaculate.
If this guy keeps scoring, he’s going to need to to invest in some windshield wipers for his visor.
