WAM! BAM! Thank you man! The NHL season is in full swing and so are the league's tough guys. An NHL tough guy isn't necessarily someone who goes out and beats the snot out of an opponent every night. Sure, goons like that still exist in the league, but an NHL tough guy is more than that. He is a player who will not only stand up for himself and/or his teammates, but will also play through and dish out pain or a game-changing check whenever his team needs him to do so. Each Wednesday, FOXSports.com's NHL Tough Guy Tracker will spotlight those players and some of the best scraps from around the league. — Punch Imback
Steve Downie vs. Matt Hendricks
Even though he was blinded by the fight, Washington's Matt Hendricks scored a win over Tampa Bay's Steve Downie on Jan. 4 by landing a nasty uppercut after the Lightning forward pulled the sweater over his head.
Marco Sturm vs. Tim Brent
In a game against the Maple Leafs Monday night in L.A., Kings' newcomer Marco Sturm [pictured] didn't like what he saw from Tim Brent when the Toronto forward led with his knee on a hit to Jarret Stoll. He immediately stuck up for his new teammate by going after and wrestling Brent to the ice.
Jared Boll vs. George Parros
While most of the Blue Jackets failed to show up for a Friday night affair in Anaheim, Jared Boll wasn't one of them. The feisty Columbus forward made his presence felt every time he jumped over the boards for a shift, dishing out three hits and dropping the gloves twice in the embarrassing 6-0 loss to the Ducks.

Dale Weise vs. Steve Ott
Rangers' youngster Dale Weise tried to fire up his team last Friday in Dallas by challenging Stars' veteran Steve Ott to drop the mitts. The youngster should have left well enough alone as Ott taught the 22-year-old a thing or two about fighting in the NHL.

Paul Bissonnette vs. Cam Janssen
For the second time this season, Coyotes tough guy Paul Bissonnette [pictured] bested the Blues' Cam Janssen in a match by using his reach to his advantage. All fight long Janssen tried to get inside on his 6-foot-2, 211-pound foe, but to no avail as Bissonnette had an answer for every knock on the door by Janssen.
Troy Bodie vs. Brandon Prust
New York's Brandon Prust put on a gutsy performance last Wednesday night at Madison Square Garden in a hand-to-hand battle with a much bigger opponent in Carolina's Troy Bodie.
Adam McQuaid vs. Travis Moen
Late in the first period last Saturday night at the Bell Centre, Boston's Adam McQuaid fed Montreal's Travis Moen a plateful of knuckles after the Canadiens' winger dug away at Tim Thomas when the Bruins' goaltender pounced on a puck in his crease.
Derek Dorsett vs. Kyle Clifford
Kyle Clifford of the Kings and Derek Dorsett of the Blue Jackets put on a show Saturday night in L.A. when they exchanged and connected on a slew of lefts to each other's face in a spirited scrap at the Staples Center.
Eric Boulton vs. Colton Orr
Eric Boulton and the Thrashers may have drawn first blood on Jan. 7 in Atlanta but in the end, it was Colton Orr and the Maple Leafs who won the war. After falling behind 1-0, Orr pounded Boulton into oblivion on the ensuing faceoff, sparking his team to score nine unanswered goals.
Ryane Clowe vs. Mike Weber
Ryane Clowe [pictured] brought the fans to their feet on Jan. 6 in San Jose when he hammered Buffalo's Mike Weber to the ice behind the Sabres' net with a series of punishing rights to the melon.
