Columbus Blue Jackets Player News: Centers

News: Columbus assigned Thurkauf to AHL Cleveland on Thursday.
Impact: Thurkauf drew into two games during his brief stay with the big club, going scoreless while averaging just 8:22 of ice time. He'll return to a prominent role with Cleveland, where he's picked up 25 points in 47 games this campaign.
News: Dubois scored a goal on two shots in Tuesday's 5-4 loss to Minnesota.
Impact: Dubois scored just over three minutes into the third period to put an end to his 11-game goal drought. Despite the recent slump, the 21-year-old is closing in on the 20-goal plateau for the third time in as many NHL seasons. Dubois has tallied 18 times and has 46 points in 65 games.
News: Nash (undisclosed) will not suit up for Tuesday's clash with Minnesota, Blue Jackets team reporter Jeff Svoboda reports.
Impact: Nash left the ice against the Senators on Monday after logging just 5:49 of ice time. The center remains stuck in a six-game pointless streak and hasn't found the back of the net in his previous 17 outings dating back to Jan. 14 versus Boston. With Nach on the shelf, fans will get their first look at the newly-acquired Devin Shore.
News: Stenlund picked up an assist and three shots on goal in Monday's 4-3 overtime win over the Senators.
Impact: The Swede posted the secondary helper on Stefan Matteau's game-tying goal in the third period. Stenlund has accumulated eight points, 44 shots and a minus-1 rating through 26 games. The second-round pick from 2015 probably won't produce enough for fantasy owners to add him.
News: Dubois provided an assist and two shots on goal in Monday's 4-3 overtime win over the Senators.
Impact: Dubois set up the first of Nick Foligno's two goals in the game. February hasn't been easy on Dubois, who has seven points in 13 contests this month despite a large role on the top line and first power-play unit. The 21-year-old now has 45 points (17 markers, 28 helpers), 144 shots, 79 hits and 47 PIM through 64 games.
News: Jenner registered two assists, three shots on goal, two hits and two blocked shots in Monday's 4-3 overtime win over the Senators.
Impact: Jenner has a tidy three-game point streak (one goal, three assists). The 26-year-old is up to 24 points, 158 shots, 104 hits and 68 blocks through 64 appearances this season. His physicality could provide some fantasy value in deep formats.
News: Nash (undisclosed) left Monday's game against Ottawa and will not return.
Impact: Nash took a big hit behind the Senators' net and immediately left the ice and went down the tunnel. It's unclear what he's dealing with, but he should be considered questionable for Tuesday's game in Minnesota.
News: Thurkauf was recalled from AHL Cleveland on an emergency basis Monday.
Impact: Thurkauf will immediately join the Blue Jackets and suit up for Monday's contest against the Senators. He was scoreless in his NHL debut Saturday, but he's racked up 25 points in 47 AHL games this season.
News: Shore was acquired by the Blue Jackets from the Ducks on Monday in a swap for Sonny Milano, Aaron Portzline of The Athletic reports.
Impact: Shore registered four goals, six helpers and 47 hits in 39 games for the Ducks this season. The addition of the Ontario native will help shore up the forward depth for Columbus, which has been decimated by injuries. The 25-year-old figures to take on a bottom-six role but could earn the occasional look in a second-line role.
News: The Blue Jackets reassigned Thurkauf to AHL Cleveland on Sunday.
Impact: The 23-year-old was called up with Oliver Bjorkstrand missing time with a lower-body injury, as he went pointless in 8:01 of ice time in his NHL debut Saturday. Thurkauf will head back to the minors where he has recorded 25 points in 47 games with Cleveland this campaign.
News: Jenner picked up an assist in Thursday's 4-3 overtime loss to the Flyers.
Impact: He also chipped in two hits, getting him to 100 or more for the seventh straight campaign. Jenner has two goals and four points in the last eight games, which counts as a hot streak for the veteran forward. He has 10 goals -- his fifth straight season in double digits -- and 21 points through 62 contests, and while he's a useful glue player for the Jackets, Jenner's fantasy value is marginal even in formats that count his production in categories other than raw points.
News: Columbus promoted Thurkauf from AHL Cleveland on Friday.
Impact: Oliver Bjorkstrand suffered an apparent lower-body injury during Thursday's loss to Philadelphia, so Thurkauf will be on hand as an insurance policy for Saturday's matchup with Nashville. The 2016 seventh-round pick has tallied 25 points in 47 games with Cleveland this campaign.
News: Nash has just one assist in his last 14 games.
Impact: The veteran center isn't relied upon as an offensive force for Columbus, but the team would still like to see a little more production from the fourth-liner. On the season, Nash has four goals and 12 points through 56 games with 56 shots on goal, 60 hits and a plus-5 rating.
News: Stenlund tallied a goal on three shots Sunday in a 4-3 shootout loss to the Devils.
Impact: Stenlund tied the game at 3-3 midway through the third period, slipping behind the New Jersey defense and beating Mackenzie Blackwood upstairs for his fifth goal of the season. The 23-year-old rookie has seven points through 22 games in 2019-20.
News: Foudy was reassigned to OHL London on Friday.
Impact: In two games with the Jackets, Foudy notched one assist, three shots and three hits while averaging 14:13 of ice time. With his junior team playing games Friday and Saturday, it's possible Columbus recalls the youngster ahead of Sunday's clash with the Devils. In the meantime. Jacob Lilja was brought up from AHL Cleveland in a corresponding roster move.
News: Foudy will be recalled from OHL London and will suit up versus the Sabres on Thursday, Blue Jackets team reporter Jeff Svoboda reports.
Impact: Foudy saw 10:23 of ice time in his previous appearance for the Blue Jackets and will now get another look with Cam Atkinson (ankle) facing an extended absence. Until Josh Anderson (shoulder) is cleared to play, Foudy will likely remain with Columbus to help bolster an already thin forward group.
News: The Blue Jackets demoted Foudy to OHL London on Monday.
Impact: Foudy made his NHL debut in Monday's contest against the Lightning, recording two shots on goal in 10:21 of ice time. He'll head back to OHL London, where he has 43 points in 32 games this season.
News: Foudy was recalled from OHL London on Sunday and will make his NHL debut Monday against Tampa Bay.
Impact: It's not often a player jumps directly from junior hockey to the NHL in-season like this, but there's plenty to be excited about with Foudy. Drafted 18th overall in the 2018 NHL Entry Draft, the 20-year-old forward has 20 goals and 43 points in 32 OHL games this season. Columbus currently has six skaters on injured reserve -- including four forwards -- so Foudy will make his NHL debut Monday against the Lightning.
News: MacInnis was reassigned to AHL Cleveland on Saturday.
Impact: MacInnis played two out of three games during his most recent stint with the big club. The 23-year-old will head back to Cleveland to get some regular playing time, but should be near the top of the call-up list when the Blue Jackets need forward depth.
News: Columbus summoned Stenlund from AHL Cleveland on Thursday.
Impact: The Blue Jackets only had 12 healthy forwards on their roster prior to Stenlund's promotion, so he'll be on hand as an insurance policy for Friday's matchup with Detroit. The 23-year-old Swede has notched six points in 17 appearances with the big club this season.
News: MacInnis was recalled from AHL Cleveland on Monday.
Impact: MacInnis appeared in seven NHL contests in December and January, recording one assist and 11 shots in the process. With Alexander Wennberg (upper body) hitting injured reserve, MacInnis should be in line for a regular role in the bottom six.
News: Wennberg (upper body) was placed on injured reserve Monday and is expected to miss three-to-four weeks.
Impact: Wennberg was injured in Sunday's win over Montreal and will now miss at least three weeks of action. The 25-year-old forward has tallied five goals and 20 points in 52 games this season. Riley Nash could see an uptick in playing time while Wennberg is out.
News: Dubois scored twice and dished an assist in Sunday's 4-3 win over the Canadiens.
Impact: Dubois' tallies came in the second period. The 21-year-old is on a four-game point streak, with two goals and six helpers in that span. He's up to 17 markers and 42 points overall through 53 games. The center has added 116 shots, 65 hits and 35 PIM in a productive top-line role.
News: Wennberg suffered an upper-body injury Sunday against the Canadiens and will not return.
Impact: Wennberg's departure will leave the Blue Jackets rotating 11 forwards for the remainder of Sunday's matinee. Expect another update on his status prior to Tuesday's game against Florida.
News: Dubois racked up three assists, two shots on goal, two hits and a plus-3 rating in Wednesday's 4-3 win over the Jets.
Impact: Dubois assisted on the Blue Jackets' first three tallies. The 21-year-old has picked up four assists over the last two games to enter the bye week on a high note. He's up to 38 points (15 goals, 23 helpers), 113 shots and 65 hits through 51 games.
News: Jenner recorded a minus-1 rating and four hits in Sunday's 2-1 win over the Rangers.
Impact: Jenner's pointless streak extended to eight games, so the 26-year-old has made an effort to throw his body around to make an impact. His fantasy value remains quite low with just 17 points through 50 games, but he provides a solid floor in leagues that count hits (78) and PIM (32) as positives.
News: Dubois registered an assist, two shots on goal, two hits and a plus-2 rating in Sunday's 2-1 win over the Rangers.
Impact: Dubois set up Oliver Bjorkstrand's second tally of the game at 19:33 of the third period. The 21-year-old center had been held off the scoresheet in his previous three outings. Dubois is up to 35 points (15 goals, 20 assists), 111 shots, 63 hits and a plus-2 rating through 50 contests.
News: Wennberg had a goal and an assist and was a plus-3 in Saturday's 5-0 win over New Jersey.
Impact: Wennberg achieved his third multi-point effort this season, and he's now racked up five points in as many games. The 25-year-old could see continued success on the scoresheet, especially considering he's averaged 2:17 of ice time on the power play this season. Wennberg is now up to five goals and 20 points through 48 games this campaign.
News: The Blue Jackets reassigned Stenlund to AHL Cleveland on Sunday.
Impact: Stenlund gained confidence throughout his 17-game stint at the NHL level, collecting four goals and six points in that span. His demotion paved the way for the team to activate Oliver Bjorkstrand (ribs) off injured reserve in a related move.
News: Nash scored a goal on three shots in Tuesday's 3-0 win over the Bruins.
Impact: Nash logged 12:40 of ice time and made his limited action worthwhile, adding an insurance tally in the third period. The 30-year-old pivot has already exceeded last year's goal total with four through 42 games.
News: Columbus sent MacInnis to AHL Cleveland on Wednesday.
Impact: The Blue Jackets activated Cam Atkinson (ankle) off injured reserve in a corresponding move, so they're no longer in need of MacInnis' services on the wing. The 23-year-old collected one assist in five games during his most recent stay with the big club.
News: Wennberg scored the game-winning goal in Tuesday's 3-0 victory over the Bruins.
Impact: His quick shot from the slot found its way through the five-hole on Jaroslav Halak midway through the first period, and Elvis Merzlikins made sure it held up as the winner. Wennberg has found the back of the net in back-to-back games, but the 25-year-old remains a lackluster fantasy performer with only four goals and 17 points through 46 games this season.
News: Stenlund notched a pair of assists, including one on the power play, in Saturday's 3-0 win over the Golden Knights.
Impact: Stenlund had the secondary helper on Emil Bemstrom's first-period tally, and he also set up Alexander Wennberg's insurance marker in the third. His confidence may be on the rise -- three of Stenlund's five points this season came on the Blue Jackets' four-game road trip. He's added 24 shots on goal and 15 blocked shots in 14 outings overall.
News: Dubois scored a goal on a team-high five shots in Saturday's 3-0 win over the Golden Knights.
Impact: Dubois stretched the Blue Jackets' lead to 2-0 in the second period. The 21-year-old has been strong with two goals and five helpers in six games since the start of 2020. He's at 15 goals, 34 points and 109 shots on goal through 46 contests this season.
News: Wennberg scored a goal in Saturday's 3-0 win over the Golden Knights.
Impact: Wennberg went 35 games without a goal, his last tally coming in a win over the Maple Leafs on Oct. 21. He had 10 assists in that span. Wennberg has always been more of a set-up guy -- he's never scored more than 13 goals or produced fewer than 16 helpers in a single season. For 2019-20, the Swede now has 16 points, 56 shots on goal and a minus-4 rating.
News: Nash recorded an assist and a plus-2 rating in Tuesday's 4-3 win over the Ducks.
Impact: Nash assisted on an Eric Robinson goal in the first period. The fourth-line center has 10 points through 39 games this season, a much better pace than his 12-point effort from 78 contests last year. Still, Nash hasn't produced enough offense to warrant much fantasy attention.
News: Dubois recorded three assists, including one on the power play, in Tuesday's 4-3 win over the Ducks.
Impact: Through two games on the Blue Jackets' west coast trip, Dubois has five assists, five blocked shots and a plus-2 rating. The 21-year-old's three-point outing got him to 33 points (14 goals, 19 helpers) in 44 contests. He'll look to keep churning out helpers Thursday in San Jose.
News: Wennberg posted an assist in Monday's 4-2 win over the Kings.
Impact: The Swede has five assists in his last seven games. Wennberg is up to 15 points and 55 shots on goal through 42 games this season. Monday was the 25-year-old's 400th career game, and he's compiled 194 points (37 goals, 157 helpers) so far, or roughly 40 points every 82 outings.
News: Dubois recorded two assists in Monday's 4-2 win over the Kings.
Impact: Dubois helped out on Nathan Gerbe's equalizer in the second period and Gustav Nyquist's empty-netter in the third. The 21-year-old center has put together a strong campaign with 30 points, 100 shots on goal and 55 hits through 43 appearances.
News: Stenlund scored a goal on three shots in Monday's 4-2 win over the Kings.
Impact: Stenlund's third-period tally would count as the game-winner, his first such goal in his career. He's scored three times on 21 shots over 11 games this season. The Swede has earned second-line minutes in an injury-depleted forward group for the Blue Jackets.
News: The Blue Jackets reassigned Scott to AHL Cleveland on Friday.
Impact: Scott's demotion indicates Brandon Dubinsky (wrist) may be nearing a return. The 24-year-old forward failed to crack the lineup during his brief stay with the big club and won't have any fantasy value in 2019-20.
News: The Blue Jackets recalled Scott from AHL Cleveland on an emergency basis Wednesday, Blue Jackets team reporter Jeff Svoboda reports.
Impact: Scott was deep on the organization's depth chart, but the big club currently has seven forwards dealing with injuries. The 24-year-old Scott has produced 14 points through 33 AHL games, and he could make his NHL debut Thursday versus the Bruins.
News: Texier has been diagnosed with a lumbar stress fracture and is out indefinitely.
Impact: Texier sustained this injury during Tuesday's 4-1 win over Florida, and he will be placed on injured reserve. The injuries continue to stack up for the Blue Jackets, and Justin Scott will be recalled from AHL Cleveland. While there's no certain timeline, Texier shouldn't be expected back until February at the earliest.
News: Texier (upper body) won't travel with the team for Thursday's game against the Bruins, Brian Hedger of NHL.com reports.
Impact: Texier sustained an upper-body injury during Tuesday's 4-1 win over the Panthers, and it will keep him out for at least one game. The Blue Jackets only have 11 healthy forwards at the moment, but Sonny Milano (upper body) or Cam Atkinson (ankle) could return to the lineup.
News: Wennberg registered a pair of assists in Tuesday's 4-1 win over Florida.
Impact: Wennberg set up Zach Werenski's goal that opened the scoring early in the first period and drew the secondary helper on Boone Jenner's power-play tally in the second. It was Wennberg's first multi-point game since mid-October. Still, he failed to generate a shot on goal Tuesday and has just two goals and 13 points in 39 games this season.
News: Jenner scored a power-play goal on three shots and picked up an assist in Tuesday's 4-1 win over Florida.
Impact: Jenner gave the Blue Jackets a 2-1 lead late in the second period and Columbus made that goal stand as the game-winner. Jenner also assisted on Zach Werenski's goal early in the third period for his second two-point game in the last 10 days. Jenner has eight goals and eight assists in 40 games.
News: Texier won't return to Tuesday's game against the Panthers after suffering an upper-body injury.
Impact: The injuries continue to stack up in the Blue Jackets' forward corps, as Texier -- a highly-touted rookie -- is one of seven forwards on the mend now. Texier has accrued 13 points through 356 games. The severity of Texier's injury isn't clear yet, but he'll need a quick recovery to get ready for Thursday's clash against the Bruins.
News: Dubois scored his 13th goal of the season in a 3-2 shootout loss to Chicago on Sunday.
Impact: Dubois' goal gave Columbus a two-goal lead with less than two minutes remaining in the second period, but the hosts would be outscored 2-0 over the final 20 minutes before falling short in a shootout. Despite the loss, Dubois continued his assault on the scoresheet and has seven points in his last six games. At just 21 years of age, Dubois is a valuable fantasy asset in all formats, even if his sophomore point production is lagging behind the pace he set as a rookie.
News: MacInnis picked up an assist in Friday's 2-1 overtime loss to the Capitals.
Impact: He chipped in on Jakob Lilja's second-period tally, giving MacInnis his first career NHL point in his third career game. A second-round pick by the Coyotes in 2014, the 23-year-old center -- the son of Hall of Famer Al MacInnis -- was off to a solid start this season for AHL Cleveland (three goals and 15 points in 28 games) and has a golden opportunity to prove he belongs at the top level due to all the injuries that have beset the Jackets' forward ranks. His upside is still likely that of a defensively responsible bottom-six option, however.
News: Columbus promoted MacInnis from the minors Thursday, Stephen Whyno of the Associated Press reports.
Impact: The Blue Jackets are currently dealing with a ton of long-term injuries up front, so MacInnis will round out the team's depth at forward for the foreseeable future. The 23-year-old American has racked up 15 points in 28 AHL appearances this season.
News: MacInnis was demoted to AHL Cleveland on Monday.
Impact: MacInnis appeared in the last two games with Columbus but failed to register a point. The 23-year-old winger could rejoin the team after the holiday break if some of the team's injured forwards still aren't ready to return.
News: The Blue Jackets recalled MacInnis from AHL Cleveland on Friday.
Impact: MacInnis should provide some depth up front for the Blue Jackets, who are shorthanded in the wake of injuries to Sonny Milano (upper body), Cam Atkinson (lower body), Josh Anderson (shoulder) and Emil Bemstrom (upper body) all within the last couple of weeks. MacInnis hasn't been lighting up the AHL ranks this season by any means, but his 15 points over 28 games are a massive improvement over the 24 in 71 he posted last season. He could make his NHL debut as soon as Saturday versus the Devils.
News: Columbus reassigned Dano to AHL Cleveland on Friday.
Impact: Dano's demotion suggests Sonny Milano (upper body) may be ready to return Saturday against New Jersey. The 25-year-old will continue to be one of the first skaters the Blue Jackets turn to when dealing with injuries up front, but he won't have any fantasy value in 2019-20.
News: Dubois scored the game-winning goal Thursday in a 3-2 overtime victory over Los Angeles. He also added an assist.
Impact: That's consecutive two-point games and three in four games for Dubois. We might even officially call that a hot streak. He has tremendous potential, but Dubois is a bit behind the 61-point pace he set last season. That's likely a function of a recent cold streak (one point in nine games). But this recent run is promising. Take advantage if you can.
News: Dubois scored a goal and an assist in Tuesday's 5-3 win over the Red Wings.
Impact: After getting the primary helper on Cam Atkinson's first-period tally, Dubois ended his 11-game goal drought by firing the eventual game-winner past Jonathan Bernier early in the third. The 21-year-old center now has 11 goals and 22 points through 34 games, but he could be catching fire -- Dubois has two multi-point performances in the last three contests.
News: Stenlund was recalled from AHL Cleveland on an emergency basis Sunday, Blue Jackets team reporter Jeff Svoboda reports.
Impact: Stenlund has tallied six goals and 16 points in 27 games with AHL Cleveland this season. His last NHL action came last season with Columbus where he was held scoreless in four appearances. The 23-year-old forward could suit up for Monday's game against the Capitals as Columbus is dealing with a myriad of injuries to the forward group.
News: Dano was recalled on an emergency basis from AHL Cleveland on Sunday, Blue Jackets team reporter Jeff Svoboda reports.
Impact: Dano has spent the whole season with AHL Cleveland, racking up three goals and 12 points over 25 games. He appeared in eight NHL contests with the Avalanche last season but failed to record a point. Dano could find himself in the lineup for Monday's tilt against Washington as Columbus is dealing with a handful of injuries to the forward group.
News: Dubois notched two assists in Saturday's 4-3 overtime loss to the Senators.
Impact: The performance ended a six-game point drought for Dubois. John Tortorella was scrambling to assemble lines after Sonny MIlano (upper body) and Josh Anderson (upper body) both exited the game in the first period, but the coach may have struck gold when he put Dubois with Alexandre Texier and Eric Robinson -- Texier scored twice in the third period to send the game to OT, with his new linemates getting the helpers on both goals. Whether Milano and Anderson's injuries prove to be serious or not, don't be surprised if the Dubois-Texier-Robinson unit stays together Monday against the Capitals.
News: Texier scored two goals in Saturday's 4-3 overtime loss to the Senators.
Impact: It was the first multi-goal game of the 20-year-old Frenchman's NHL career in his 30th regular-season game. John Tortorella was scrambling to assemble lines after Sonny MIlano (upper body) and Josh Anderson (upper body) both exited the game in the first period, but the coach may have struck gold when he put Texier with Pierre-Duc Dubois and Eric Robinson -- the latter two got the helpers on both of Texier's third-period tallies that sent the game to OT. Whether Milano and Anderson's injuries prove to be serious or not, don't be surprised if the Dubois-Texier-Robinson unit stays together Monday against the Capitals.
News: Nash scored his second goal of the season in Monday's win over the Capitals.
Impact: Picking up the puck in the corner on the forecheck, Nash flipped it towards the front of the net, only for his "shot" to somehow find twine after deflecting off Braden Holtby. The veteran center hadn't scored a point in almost a month, seeing four healthy scratches in addition to seven games with a goose egg on the scoresheet. Nash remains far from the fantasy radar with seven points in 25 games on the year.
News: Texier scored a goal on one shot versus Arizona on Tuesday.
Impact: Texier ended a five-game pointless streak with his fourth goal of the season. The center logged over 15 minutes for the first time since Nov. 15, a stretch of seven games, and he may be working his way back into coach John Tortorella's good graces. Given how streaky his scoring has been this year, fantasy owners may want to wait a little before inserting Texier into their lineups.
