Colorado Avalanche Player News: Centers

News: Kadri scored the game-winning goal on the power play in Wednesday's 3-0 victory over the Coyotes during Game 1.
Impact: Darcy Kuemper and Philipp Grubauer engaged in a goaltending duel for over 50 minutes, but Kadri finally broke the impasse by knocking home the rebound on a Cale Makar point shot. The 29-year-old center extended his playoff point streak to four games with the tally, and Kadri has racked up two goals and five points during that stretch -- with all but one assist coming on the power play.
News: MacKinnon picked up two assists, one on the power play, in Wednesday's 3-0 win over the Coyotes during Game 1.
Impact: He was credited with the secondary helper on a power-play tally by Nazem Kadri midway through the third period that opened the scoring, then set up Mikko Rantanen for the game's final goal less than 90 seconds later. MacKinnon has found the scoresheet in all four playoff games so far, scoring a goal and five points.
News: Kadri bagged two apples Saturday in a 4-3 OT loss to Vegas.
Impact: Kadri has become an integral part of the Avs' offense -- he has four points in three games and at least one in each one. Kadri is working to shed the postseason baggage he picked up in Toronto and so far, so good.
News: Namestnikov scored a goal on three shots and provided three hits Wednesday in a 4-0 win over Dallas in round-robin play.
Impact: Namestnikov, playing the left side with Nathan MacKinnon and Mikko Rantanen, tapped in a rebound late in the second period to give Colorado a 3-0 lead. Playing for his fourth team in the last three seasons, Namestnikov hadn't scored a playoff goal since 2015-16 while with the Lightning. The 27-year-old scored four goals in nine games after being acquired by Colorado during the regular season and is an interesting name to watch as long as he's riding shotgun with the likes of MacKinnon and Rantanen.
News: Kadri scored a power-play goal and had a game-high six shots with three hits in a 2-1 win over St. Louis.
Impact: Kadri knocked home a loose puck in front of the net with 0.1 seconds left in regulation -- a goal that was confirmed after a lengthy video review -- to break a 1-1 tie and send the Avalanche to victory. The veteran center contributed 19 goals and 36 points in 51 regular-season games during his first campaign with Colorado.
News: Wilson (lower body) wasn't included on Colorado's 31-man postseason roster and won't be available for the playoffs.
Impact: There haven't been any updates on Wilson's condition since he was able to ditch the crutches he was using in mid-February, but the fact that he wasn't included on the Avalanche's postseason roster all but confirms he still hasn't fully recovered from the surgery he underwent in early December. The 30-year-old winger picked up four helpers through the first nine games of the regular season before sustaining his injury.
News: Kamenev was limited during training camp due to an appendectomy in May, which resulted in him being cut from the playoff roster, Ryan S. Clark of The Athletic reports.
Impact: Kamenev ended the season on a 28-game goal drought dating back to Nov. 19 versus Calgary. The Russian center's exclusion from the playoff roster could be a sign of things to come, as he will need a new contract this offseason, though as an RFA he won't have too many options if the team doesn't let him walk.
News: MacKinnon (undisclosed) is practicing normally Saturday, Ryan S. Clark of The Athletic reports.
Impact: MacKinnon missed practice Thursday and Friday with an undisclosed issue, but he appears to be good to go ahead of Sunday's flight to Edmonton. The Hart Trophy finalist will center Colorado's top line and first power-play unit during the playoffs.
News: MacKinnon (undisclosed) was absent from Thursday's practice, NHL.com's Rick Sadowski reports.
Impact: This marks MacKinnon's first absence from practice since training camp began July 13, so it's quite possible he was simply given a day off Thursday. The Hart Trophy finalist racked up 35 goals and 93 points in 69 games during the regular season.
News: Kadri (lower body) skated Monday as part of Colorado's Phase 2 activities, Ryan S. Clark of The Athletic reports.
Impact: Kadri was nearing his 4-6 week recovery timeline when the league went on hiatus, so the extra time off will no doubt see the center back in action for the postseason. In his first season with the Avalanche, the center has notched 19 goals, 17 helpers and 133 shots on goal and could provide solid value play in DFS contests during the playoffs.
News: MacKinnon (lower body) joined his teammates on the ice Monday as part of the NHL's Return to Play Plan, Ryan S. Clark of The Athletic reports.
Impact: MacKinnon was originally expected to miss 1-2 weeks due to his lower-body issue and it's now been close to three months since the league went on hiatus. Despite playing in just 69 games this season, the 24-year-old forward reached the 35-goal and 90-point marks for the third straight season. Heading into the postseason, the world-class center should be a near-lock for most playoff pools and also a top-end DFS option.
