Suffers huge dropoff in 2020 Coleman was limited to 28 carries for 53 yards over eight games this season.

Impact Coleman's production took a huge nosedive in his age-27 season, as he was pushed into a reserve role and averaged just 1.9 yards per carry (worst mark of his career). The fact that the veteran was bypassed by his current head coach (and former offensive coordinator in Atlanta) when injuries opened up the starting role at various points of the year is a sign that the back's skills have diminished. Coleman will enter the offseason as a free agent, but a depth role seems like the best-case scenario for the former dual-threat running back.

Three yards in win Coleman had two carries for three yards and caught his lone target for no gain in Saturday's 20-12 win over the Cardinals.

Impact Jeff Wilson Jr. (23 touches for 204 total yards and a touchdown) dominated the backfield workload after Raheem Mostert (ankle) was placed on IR earlier this week. Neither Coleman (seven offensive snaps) nor Jerick McKinnon (10 snaps) were involved enough in the gameplan to warrant fantasy consideration. Head coach Kyle Shanahan normally deploys a two-back system, but with the playoffs out of sight, perhaps he wanted to see how the 25-year-old Wilson would handle a larger role instead of wasting snaps on Coleman. Given the results of the gameplan -- and the overall disappointing play of both veteran backups this year -- expect Wilson to dominate the touches against Seattle next week.

Impact Coleman spent most of his day on special teams, but he was able to take the field late in the contest after the starting tandem of Raheem Mostert (ankle) and Jeff Wilson (ankle) both aggravated their respective ankle injuries. The 27-year-old is averaging a career worst 1.9 yards per carry while dealing with injuries and sporadic playing time this season. Coleman would be lined up to take over early and goal-line work -- with Jerick McKinnon spelling him in passing situations -- if the aforementioned duo are forced to miss Saturday's tilt against the Cardinals. The veteran figures to have limited upside even if he gets the call, as the explosiveness he was once known for appears to have dissipated, or at least been hampered by nagging injuries.

Impact Coleman hasn't re-established himself in the 49ers' backfield since returning from a knee injury Week 13 against Buffalo, collecting just six offensive snaps over the past two contests. A holdover from coach Kyle Shanahan's tenure as Atlanta's offensive coordinator between 2015 and 2016, Coleman had a solid debut campaign with San Francisco last year in amassing 724 scrimmage yards and seven TDs over 14 appearances. His injury-riddled 2020 has been disappointing, to say the least, with Coleman posting a 1.7 yards-per-carry average on 23 attempts.

Impact In what was the 27-year-old's first appearance since Nov. 1, Coleman struggled in a limited workload coming off the knee injury. The game script faded Coleman's potential involvement with San Francisco falling into a 17-point third-quarter deficit, but it was clear Raheem Mostert (nine carries) and Jeff Wilson (seven carries) remained the preferred RB options for coach Kyle Shanahan. Coleman has only exceeded four rush attempts in a game once over his four appearances this season. That occasion came Week 2 when he was held to 12 yards on 14 carries during a matchup against the Jets.
