Aaron Donald looks to help the Los Angeles Rams get back on the winning track against the Detroit Lions on Sunday.
With two Pro Bowl appearances in his first two seasons, expectations were high for Los Angeles Rams defensive tackle Aaron Donald heading into his third NFL season, and rightfully so when considering the former Pittsburgh star recorded 20 sacks from 2014-15.
Even though he’s only recorded two sacks in five games during the 2016 season, Donald has faced more challenges this year when considering the extra pressure he’s receiving from opponents. With the way he made an impact over the first two years, Donald has been double teamed more often than usual, but the Rams should be excited about Sunday’s matchup against the Detroit Lions.
While the Lions are coming off an impressive 24-23 win over the previously undefeated Philadelphia Eagles to pick up their second victory of the 2016 season. Matthew Stafford led the way for the Lions’ offense with three touchdowns in the first half, but the veteran quarterback hopes to avoid what happened last year when these two teams met in Week 14 last season.
In that game, Donald came up big for the Rams’ defense by sacking Stafford three times as St. Louis (before the move to Los Angeles) went on to win 21-14. With the way things are panning out for Detroit this year, there’s a good chance Donald could have another field day against the Lions quarterback as Los Angeles will need all the help they can get when considering all of the injuries the team is dealing with on defense.
