What Time Does Super Bowl 51 Start?

Updated Mar. 4, 2020 6:55 p.m. ET

What time does Super Bowl 51 between the New England Patriots and Atlanta Falcons start on Sunday, Feb. 5?

There’s no time of year quite like the Super Bowl and Super Bowl 51 is no exception to that. Obviously the fans of the New England Patriots and Atlanta Falcons are chomping at the bit for Sunday to arrive. However, NFL fans in general too are waiting as they want to see who will be crowned champions. There’s so much coverage, so much fanfare and, ultimately, so much fun involved.

Obviously there are no guarantees, but Super Bowl 51 certainly has the makings of a game that could be exceptionally fun. The Patriots and Falcons have elite offenses that will take on one another. It’s been a while since we’ve had a true offensive showdown, but the units led by Tom Brady and Matt Ryan are more than capable of delivering that at NRG Stadium in Houston.

However, what’s interesting in this matchup is the different levels of experience between these two teams. Obviously Brady and Bill Belichick are no strangers to the stage Super Bowl 51 offers. In fact, you might go as far as to call them Super Bowl veterans. Meanwhile, Dan Quinn is one of a scarce few on the Falcons that have been on this stage. That could play a huge factor in determining who hoists the Lombardi Trophy on Sunday.

This is still the matchup that football fans deserve, though. These two teams at their best have been the most impressive from each conference—and they’ve both certainly been at that level in the playoffs. Subsequently, fans won’t want to miss a second of action. Therefore, you may be wondering what time Super Bowl 51 starts with kickoff.

Though the pre-game coverage will start hours before, the game itself will get underway at 6:30 p.m. ET. From there, you can watch coverage all throughout the night, including analysis, the halftime show, and of course the game that everyone has been waiting for.
