RG3 hurts knee in loss to Broncos

Robert Griffin III’s right knee was surgically repaired and rehabbed back to full strength during this past offseason. His left knee prevented him from finishing Sunday’s 45-21 loss to the Broncos.

The second-year quarterback was knocked out in the fourth quarter and was immediately listed as questionable to return. He never did.

Head coach Mike Shanahan said that Griffin was held out of the game because of the score in the postgame news conference. Team doctor James Andrews said that Griffin is “OK” and was removed as a precaution, according to NFL Media.

Kirk Cousins filled in, but threw two interceptions, one of which was returned for a touchdown by cornerback Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie.

Broncos defensive tackle Terrance Knighton delivered a blow to Griffin in the fourth quarter and the quarterback was immediately tended to by the team’s medical staff. While the injury doesn’t seem serious, the team will be extra cautious with him because of how delicate the situation is.
