Vikings waive running back Ronnie Hillman
EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. (AP) The Minnesota Vikings have waived running back Ronnie Hillman and promoted rookie defensive end Stephen Weatherly from the practice squad to fill the roster spot.
The Vikings made the move on Monday after Hillman carried the ball twice for a total of 9 yards in a 30-24 victory over Arizona.
Hillman, a member of Denver's Super Bowl-winning team last season, was used sparingly in the eight games he spent with Minnesota after star Adrian Peterson was placed on injured reserve. Hillman rushed 18 times for 50 yards and caught four passes for 43 yards, behind Jerick McKinnon and Matt Asiata for playing time.
The Vikings are last in the NFL in rushing.
Weatherly was a seventh-round draft pick out of Vanderbilt.
