FOXBORO, Mass. — Breaking: Tom Brady has a pulse.

The New England Patriots quarterback also walks upright, has a functioning brain and can make good use of his opposable thumb. That’s because he’s a full-fledged member of the Homo sapiens species, which Brady confirmed Wednesday when pressed on his robotic responses to questions about whether there’s extra motivation to beat the Indianapolis Colts this Sunday because of their role in Deflategate.

“Well, I’m always pretty motivated, regardless of the opponent,” Brady said at Gillette Stadium. “Regardless of the team or the week, whether that’s a preseason game, whether that’s a regular season game, they’re all important because there’s so few of those that you get an opportunity (at) in your life.

“I don’t take them for granted. I think it’s exciting to go out there and do something I love to do, to go out there and do it with teammates that I love to play with. We all put a lot of effort in — coaches, players — so it’s another opportunity for us to go out there and see if we can beat a good football team.”

Nice response. Genuine. Very Brady-like. This is how the Patriots operate.

But one reporter pressed the issue, joking that Brady sounds like a robot and asking the veteran QB whether there’s any human part of him that wants to win a little more this week all things considered.

That’s when any uncertainty was put to rest.

“I’m a human,” Brady joked. “There’s no doubt. I’m definitely human.”

Well, that clears that up.
