Bill Belichick doesn't want to 'disappoint' with Tom Brady injury update
Maybe it's the holiday season. Maybe it's knowing that his quarterback appears to be healthy. Either way, Patriots head coach Bill Belichick was in a jovial mood on Friday.
As Tom Brady returned to practice after missing the previous two sessions with a knee injury, Belichick took questions from reporters about the New England quarterback — and in a rare display of something approaching "compassion," the Patriots coach considered the feelings of others:
That's certainly a different response than the one Belichick gave to a reporter who asked about the infamous "Butt Fumble" earlier this week. Given that the Patriots face the Jets on Sunday, one might assume it's a fair topic of discussion, but Belichick was having none of it.
He does, however, want to make sure you had a happy Thanksgiving:
As for Brady, he was reportedly moving "without restriction" during Friday's practice, and there are no indications he'll miss the Week 12 game against the Jets. Rob Gronkowski also participated in practice, although he was limited with a chest injury. The Patriots TE missed New England's Week 11 win over the 49ers.
Brady completed 24 of 40 passes for 280 yards and four TDs against the 49ers on Sunday and was named the AFC's Offensive Player of the Week. It was the 27th time in his career he's earned the honor.
