Titans QB Mettenberger laments late turnovers in loss to Patriots

A pair of fourth-quarter interceptions marred what was an otherwise solid performance by Tennessee Titans backup quarterback Zach Mettenberger in the team's 33-16 loss to the New England Patriots on Sunday.

Mettenberger, playing more than half the game in place of the injured Marcus Mariota, completed 20-of-28 passes for 242 yards and two touchdowns.

However, his two interceptions in the final quarter prevented the Titans from seriously challenging New England's lead.

Via the Tennessean:

“I felt like I did a lot of good today,” Mettenberger said. “But at the same time, I made too many mistakes for us to get back in the game.”

The second-year quarterback said he needed to make better decisions with the ball, adding that he'd "played enough to know better."

Sunday was the fifth game Mettenberger has seen action this season, including two starts in place of Mariota in Weeks 7 and 8. Mariota left Sunday's game with a knee injury in the second quarter.

A 2014 sixth-round pick, Mettenberger has three touchdowns against five interceptions this year.
