Titans WR Wright 'beyond frustrated' with role in offense

In the wake of Sunday's 14-13 loss to the Buffalo Bills, Tennessee Titans wide receiver Kendall Wright expressed his frustration with the way he's been used in the team's offense thus far.

Wright caught three passes for 29 yards against Buffalo and leads the team with 16 receptions for 242 yards and two touchdowns through the first four games. But the four-year veteran told reporters after the game he doesn't feel he's being utilized properly.

“I’m beyond frustrated,” Wright said, per the Tennessean. “I don’t feel like I’m being able to do what I can do until late in games. I feel like I’m a good receiver and I feel like I’ve been open and I can beat the DBs or whoever is (covering) me, but I haven’t really been given the opportunity I’ve been looking for."

Tennessee's first-round pick in 2012, Wright was tied for the team lead in targets against the Bills with six. He said he had yet to speak with head coach Ken Whisenhunt about his dissatisfaction.

“I haven’t talked to anybody about it,” Wright said. “I don’t feel like it’s my place. I feel like I was supposed to be the number one receiver. I feel like I was supposed to get the targets.

“But we have a bunch of receivers and we’re all trying to make plays. We’re all fighting to make plays. It’s not just me. Everybody wants the ball. But that’s just how it’s playing out.”

Titans rookie quarterback Marcus Mariota said after the game he would work to find ways to get Wright the ball more.
