Tennessee Titans End of Week Notes/Links

Hold tight Tennessee Titans fans, the regular season is so very close. Just two days prior to the season opener against the Minnesota Vikings, the anxiety is building. Maybe that’s just me, but I’m very excited to get this season underway and see if our preseason performances were a positive indicator or how the team will do during the regular season.

While we try our best to keep our readers updated on all things Titans throughout the week, there are plenty of nuggets and tidbits that are out there on the interwebs that are worth reading and noting. So here’s some things you may have missed:

Some thoughts on a few of these notes.

Kendall Wright is off to a horrible start in a contract year. Wright was injured all offseason and didn’t play in the preseason. He wasn’t going to be a big part of the offense during the first week anyway, but it’s gotten to the point where I wonder if he will have much of any impact this year. Considering he’s a free agent next year, I don’t believe he will be back on the team in 2017.

I understand getting some depth on o-line by claiming Kline, but I’m not sure about the decision to waive Riggs while Antwon Blake is still on the roster. I hope that it’s a sign of confidence for Kalan Reed, who’s on the practice squad and could make some appearances throughout the year.

I’m glad that McBride was brought back. I think he has potential as a future No. 3 or 4 receiver, in addition to being a solid kick returner. That said, getting Marc Mariani should be a sight for joyous eyes. Mariani was great as a returner for the Titans in the past, and he posted a very good 26.1 yard average on kick returns last year. All the preseason worry about the special teams return game is now eased. He also contributed 300 receiving yards for the Bears last year, so he can take some targets from Harry Douglas (which no one would be sad about).
