Fumbles lead Titans to pull Sankey as kick returner against Bills

A pair of fumbled kicks prompted the Tennessee Titans to remove running back Bishop Sankey from kick return duties Sunday against the Buffalo Bills.

Sankey muffed the opening kickoff, leading to a Buffalo recovery at the Tennessee four-yard line. Fortunately for the Sankey and Titans, the play was nullified by an offside penalty against the Bills.

In the third quarter, Sankey muffed another kickoff, but was able to recover and bring the ball out to the 19 yard-line.

"It looked to me the first time that it was the sun and we just got lucky, lucky as heck that they were offside to start the game,” Whisenhunt said, per the Tennesseean. “The second one, that hasn’t shown itself at all. That hasn’t even been something that’s happened in practice. It’s not something we’re very excited about, to be honest with you.”

The Titans elected to replace Sankey with Dexter McCluster to finish out the game.
