Tackle Mike Adams among 3 cut by Steelers
PITTSBURGH (AP) The Pittsburgh Steelers released offensive tackle Mike Adams on Thursday, ending the former second-round pick's tumultuous tenure with the team.
The Steelers took Adams with the 56th overall selection in the 2012 NFL draft. He started 20 games across his first three seasons but failed to lock down a starting job on a permanent basis. He never saw the field in 2015 after the team placed him on the physically unable to perform list before training camp while he recovered from back surgery. The team said Thursday that Adams failed a physical.
Adams was involved in an altercation with three men outside a Pittsburgh restaurant in June, 2013 in which Adams received stab wounds. The three men were later acquitted of attempted homicide.
Pittsburgh also released kick Ty Long and running back Abou Toure to trim the roster to 90 players.
