EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) Pittsburgh Steelers safety Troy Polamalu and linebacker Ryan Shazier are out against the New York Jets because of injuries.

Both players had been previously ruled out for Sunday's game. Will Allen is starting in place of Polamalu, who sprained one of his knees last week against Baltimore.

Shazier has a sprained ankle, suffered during a Week 3 victory at Carolina. Cornerback Ike Taylor, also inactive, was also injured against the Panthers. Linebacker Jason Worilds (abdomen) is active after missing a practice earlier in the week.

Quarterback Geno Smith is active for the Jets, and will serve as Michael Vick's backup after sitting out last week with a sore right shoulder.
