Steelers guard Ramon Foster will help Tom Brady fight suspension

How's this for irony? Steelers guard Ramon Foster will be standing firmly behind Tom Brady as the Patriots quarterback mounts a legal fight against the NFL to overturn his four-game suspension.

Foster, who serves as the Steelers' player rep for the NFL Players Association, says when it comes to the union, everyone is on the same team, regardless of uniform color. Brady, whose four-game suspension for his role in Deflategate was upheld Tuesday by commissioner Roger Goodell, plans on fighting the ban in federal court. If Brady wins his case before the season opener, he'll be on the field trying to beat Foster and the Steelers in Week 1 at Gillette Stadium.

"Our job is to represent everybody, period," Foster said per CBS Pittsburgh. "It’s not a slippery slope, and the right thing to do is defend a man when you have to and that’s with Ray Rice and that’s with anybody else out there that’s gotten into some trouble, and that’s us going to court and representing a player.

"That’s what we are supposed to do as a union is fight those type of things so that he’s given the best opportunity to be on the field and stay on the field so he will deal with it in the next week or so and we will get all of that info then,” Foster said.
