Start/Sit: Dolphins Fantasy Football Preview Week 12

Published Jun. 30, 2017 6:28 p.m. ET

The Dolphins are likely to miss three key offensive linemen this week when they play the 49ers. It’s still a very winnable game for Miami with some intriguing fantasy options as well.

The Miami Dolphins will be seeking their sixth straight victory this Sunday when they host the 1-9 San Francisco 49ers. The Dolphins have not won six straight since 2008 when Nick Saban was the head coach. Seems like forever ago now.

The Dolphins offensive line has been a major influence on Miami’s turnaround this season, but they could be without three of their starters come Sunday. Branden Albert has been rehabbing a wrist injury that kept him out last week. Laremy Tunsil suffered a shoulder injury against the Rams, and Mike Pouncey reinjured his hip that kept him out multiple weeks. Albert and Tunsil remain ’50-50′ for Sunday’s game while Pouncey is doubtful.

Despite the injuries on the line, Miami is still expected to be in control of this game. The 49ers are, arguably, the worst team defensively. For that reason, Miami players get a boost in their fantasy football value as we take a look at which players to start or sit.

    Ryan Tannehill

Tannehill led the Dolphins to a pair of passing touchdowns on the teams’ final two drives to give Miami the victory after they could get nothing going offensively before then. Injuries to the offensive line were obviously an issue for Tannehill until Miami went with their 2-minute drill on the last two drives. The Dolphins would be smart in considering running it throughout the game because of their injuries to the line, and Tannehill’s success in the offense.

Tannehill has thrown multiple touchdowns in consecutive games now, and is now in a very favorable matchup against San Francisco. Even with the injuries, Tannehill is a great streaming option this week in daily formats. He could even be worth a start in league play if you’re hurting at QB.

    Jarvis Landry / DeVante Parker

Parker has been the one looking like the #1 receiver these past two weeks according to the stat sheets, but Landry has done his part as well. Landry scored the first of Miami’s touchdowns against LA that should go down as a classic. Hit first at around the 6-yard line after completing a catch in the middle of the field, Landry kept his feet moving only to be helped by his teammates into pushing him across the goal line. It was a true team touchdown to say the least.

Parker has been on fire as of late. Against the Rams, Parker tied a career high with eight receptions, capped off by a beautiful touchdown reception to win the game. After earlier concerns with his work ethic and toughness, Parker is starting to show why the Dolphins felt he was worthy to be their first round selection in 2015. Parker has had some dud performances throughout the season, however, which makes me still lean on Landry for league play. However, I like Parker better in GPP tournaments as a cheaper option.

    Landry – Start (League)

    Parker – Start (DFS)

    Jay Ajayi

Ajayi has been held to under 80 yards rushing in consecutive weeks without a touchdown. This after Ajayi combined for 529 yards rushing and four touchdowns in the three weeks prior. Ajayi continues to run well, but the lack of scoring and a slight dip in carries has taken a hit to his fantasy value.

The 49ers, however, are giving up a league worst 179.5 yards a game on the ground. They have been a major target for fantasy owners all season long. Ajayi leads all running backs in rushing average of players with a minimum of 100 carries. Even with the injuries on the offensive line, Ajayi should have no problem finding running room against this defense. He is a must start in all formats.
