Rams leery of letdown factor heading into Week 2

Published Sep. 16, 2015 3:37 p.m. ET

As big and emotional as their Week 1 victory was over the Seahawks, the Rams perhaps face an even tougher test against the Redskins in Week 2.

That's not to say the Redskins are a far superior team; it's the nature of the league when preparing from week to week no matter the opponent.

“Success in this league requires you to keep wins and losses in perspective," head coach Jeff Fisher said, via ESPN. "When we have a really emotional win like we did, you have to keep things in perspective. We have to correct mistakes. We have to put another good plan in and we have to go out and carry respect in for next week’s opponent."

The Redskins recently dealt with some controversy of their own, particularly surrounding Robert Griffin III and whether he'd be the starting quarterback entering 2015.

As it turns out, Griffin was the third-string quarterback in Week 1 according to the depth chart, behind starter Kirk Cousins and backup Colt McCoy.

The Redskins dropped their home opener to the Dolphins, and received more bad news when it was revealed that their top wideout, DeSean Jackson, is expected to be sidelined three to four weeks due to a strained hamstring.

Even so, the Rams believe they will be prepared, in part due to their maturity individually and as a unit. Moving on from the Seahawks victory was the first step in the preparation process for Week 2.

"Guys weren’t enjoying it and taking two days off from watching film and relaxing and waiting until Wednesday to find out about the next team because they were celebrating," James Laurinaitis said, via ESPN. "Guys were really honed in and watching tape to try to figure out more about the Redskins and put the game to rest. We know the next challenge is the Redskins."
