Rams' Fisher: Backup RB Mason benched for violation of team rules

Published Nov. 22, 2015 7:49 p.m. ET

St. Louis Rams backup running back Tre Mason was inactive for Sunday's game at Baltimore due to a violation of team rules.

Rams coach Jeff Fisher did not disclose the nature of the infraction, but it was reported during the game telecast that Mason and offensive lineman Isaiah Battle both missed the team bus Saturday.

Their absences left the team shorthanded in the backfield and along the offensive line. Todd Gurley, Benny Cunningham and Chase Reynolds were the only running backs available for St. Louis.

An already-depleted offensive line took another hit when rookie right tackle Andrew Donnal was knocked out of the game early in the second quarter with an injury to his left knee.

Battle was promoted to the active roster from the practice squad earlier in the week after guard Jamon Brown (knee) and tackle Darrell Williams suffered season ending injuries in last weekend's loss to Chicago.
