Rams bottle up Seahawks despite concussions to trio of defenders

The St. Louis Rams' third straight victory came at a price.

Linebacker Mark Barron and defensive linemen Nick Fairley and Ethan Westbrooks all sustained concussions in Sunday's 23-17 victory at the Seattle Seahawks.

Cornerback Trumaine Johnson, who intercepted a pass for the fourth consecutive game, also was evaluated for a concussion before returning to the game while defensive end Chris Long was sidelined for a bit due to a stinger.

“We had to overcome some difficult things,” Rams coach Jeff Fisher said. “Defensively, we lost four guys out of the rotation. That’s not easy. Those guys that played, stepped up and played hard and played well.”

Linebacker Akeem Ayers turned in one of the big defensive plays with a 45-yard fumble return for a touchdown while defensive end William Hayes had three of the Rams' four sacks as St. Louis snapped the Seahawks' five-game winning streak and held them to their lowest point total since Week 8.
