Long-distance attempts contributing to slump of Rams' Zuerlein

The recent struggles of St. Louis Rams kicker Greg Zuerlein is not causing his coach much cause for concern.

Zuerlein has misfired on five field goal attempts over the past two games, although four of them were from beyond 50 yards, which is why Rams coach Jeff Fisher said he is not fazed by his kicker's struggles.

"No. No, he’s hitting it really well," Fisher said. "He just needs to hit it between those two yellow poles. But, he’s hitting it well. I have to trust him."

Fisher even accepted some of the blame for Zuerlein's struggles after trotting him out to attempt a 64-yarder late in a Week 5 loss at Green Bay and a 63-yard attempt in Sunday's win over the Cleveland Browns. There was, however, a 35-yard miss in the third quarter Sunday with St. Louis holding a slim 10-6 edge.

"That was on me. That wasn’t his," Fisher said of the 63-yarder. "I didn’t like the (35)-yard miss. ... I’ve had total confidence in Greg. He’s hitting it as well as he’s hit it since he’s been here. He just needs to hit it in the right place."
