Breakout season coming for Rams linebacker Alec Ogletree?

The St. Louis Rams' defensive front may get all the attention.

But one player that might not get deserved recognition is linebacker Alec Ogletree.

The former first-round pick has started all 32 games in his two seasons and has led the team in tackles in both years (117 in 2013, 111 in 2014). He's forced 10 fumbles and also recorded three interceptions, including one he returned for a 98-yard score.

Entering Year 3, Ogletree feels healthy and allowed he's starting to see more on the field. He understands what the coaching staff wants and the role he's asked to play.

“Things are definitely slowing down for me out there,’’ he said. “I’m comfortable in the defense and have a pretty good idea what the coaches want and expect of me. I want to work hard every day and hopefully carry that into the games on Sunday."

If Ogletree can build upon his first two seasons, the Rams' defense could be even better in 2015.
