Richard Sherman says the Seahawks secondary is just hitting its prime

For the past four seasons, the Seattle Seahawks have had arguably the best defense in the league. They've been first each year in points allowed and haven't ranked outside of the top 10 in yards allowed since 2010. A big reason for that is the team's secondary, also known as the Legion of Boom.

The group is led by the likes of Richard Sherman, Earl Thomas and Kam Chancellor, all of whom offer different skill sets that make the secondary so dynamic and daunting to play against. They've now been together for five seasons, and Sherman thinks they're only getting better by the year.

It's hard to imagine the Legion of Boom getting any better than it already is. The Seahawks were second in passing yards allowed, first in touchdowns allowed and 13th in interceptions last season. On four separate occasions, they allowed fewer than 100 passing yards in a game, which is incredible.

Now, the secondary is getting back one of its integral pieces from a few years ago in Brandon Browner. While he struggled mightily with the Saints last season, Browner is transitioning to a hybrid-safety role that will allow him to better use his physicality and size, which is a scary thought. And although he's up there in age, the rest of the secondary is young.

All four projected starters will be under 29 years old, including DeShawn Shead (26) and Jeremy Lane (25). So when Sherman says the Legion is just entering its prime, he's not wrong. They're going to be great again in 2016.
