Seahawks' Bennett puts on sack clinic to run down Kaepernick, 49ers

San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick did not have a rushing attempt for the first time in his career, but he was still running for his life Thursday night.

Kaepernick was under siege by a relentless Seattle Seahawks defense, which sacked him six times and limited the 49ers to 142 total yards in a dominating 20-3 victory.

Defensive end Michael Bennett was a devastating force throughout the game and sparked Seattle's pass rush by registering 3.5 sacks, topping his total from the previous six games combined.

"Fantastic night of rushing the passer, really highlighted by Michael Bennett," Seahawks coach Pete Carroll said. "He did a great job tonight with a bunch of sacks."

Not only did Seattle hold San Francisco to its lowest yardage total since November 2006, but it forced the 49ers to attempt more punts (9) than they had first downs (8). Carroll gave Bennett much of the credit for keeping San Francisco's out of sync.

"Mike is such a disrupter, he really caused problems," Carroll said. "Even when he wasn't getting to the quarterback he was causing issues."
