Seahawks Injury Report Week 4: New York vs Seattle

Seahawks Injury Report Week 4: The Seattle Seahawks travel to New York hobbled, but optimistic.

First off, is Russell Wilson even human? After finally recovering from a sprained ankle that caused him to miss all of zero snaps, he got tangled up with 49ers OLB Eli Harold and sprained his MCL. Even after leaving the game, it’s obvious the Pete Carroll had to fight Wilson tooth and nail to prevent his quarterback from reentering a blowout. This week, Wilson’s name doesn’t even appear on the official injury report! While questions about his mobility will linger, it appears that he will be the starting quarterback on Sunday.

Elsewhere, the team’s health is looking up, but there are still numerous key players dealing with lingering injuries. RB Thomas Rawls was ruled out on Sunday with a broken fibula, meaning Christine Michael will be the top dog in the backfield once again.

Rookie running back CJ Prosise is questionable for Sunday. He suffered a chipped bone in his right hand during Seattle’s week one victory. Aside from a few snaps, we have yet to see the dynamic Prosise in extended action so far. Prosise was a full participant in practice, but the signing of RB CJ Spiller casts doubt over Prosise’ immediate health.

After tearing his patellar tendon 10 months ago, Jimmy Graham finally looked like his old self on Sunday. He caught six balls for 100 yards and a touchdown. Graham has dealt with some back spasms this week, leading to him being questionable. However, he was a full participant in practice on Friday.

Speaking of impactful returns, it appears that 2016 1st round pick Germain Ifedi will be making his NFL debut this Sunday. Ifedi has been kept out of action due to an ankle injury that caused him to miss the first three games. His impressive training camp and stellar preseason caused excitement throughout the VMAC. Ifedi is armed with the tough task of stopping New York’s stellar defensive front after two days of full participation.

Two more rookies showed up on the injury report this week. Tight end Nick Vannett has been sidelined by a high ankle sprain. He is listed as questionable, but he will be a game-time decision. Although many are expecting Vannett to make a huge impact down the stretch, I wouldn’t necessarily count on a big impact this week for the rookie, as the Seahawks plan to ease him into the lineup slowly.

Defensive tackle Jarran Reed has been a monster so far this season, but his status for Sunday is iffy due to a hip injury. Reed did not practice on Friday, but he will also be a game-time decision. If Reed doesn’t suit up, expect veteran DT Tony McDaniel to get the start. In addition, SLB Mike Morgan was limited on Friday while also dealing with a hip issue. His status for Sunday appears to be up in the air. Like last week, DE Cliff Avril was on the injury report earlier this week, but he was not listed on the final report.

On the Jets side, they enter Seattle with several key players dealing with injuries. WR’s Eric Decker and Jalin Marshall are out, while star WR Brandon Marshall, LT Ryan Clady, and lock down CB Darrelle Revis have been banged up this year.

The Seahawks are looking very good on the injury front at the moment, considering where they were a few weeks ago. Hopefully, the Seahawks can leave this game and go into the bye week with a relatively healthy roster.
