3 players who filled up the box score in Week 6

Another Sunday of NFL football has come and gone, and it's time to take a look back at the players who blew up the box score this weekend. The stars who stood out in Week 6 were a quarterback who's leading the league in passing yards, a running back who's powering a one-loss team and a defensive end who's fueling a renaissance in South Beach.

Philip Rivers, quarterback, San Diego Chargers

The Chargers came up short in their visit to Lambeau Field on Sunday, but Rivers’ performance during a 27-20 loss to the Green Bay Packers was impressive nonetheless. Without much of a running game on which to lean, Rivers attempted a career-high 65 passes. He completed 43 (66.2 percent) for 503 yards and two touchdowns. The Chargers were able hang with their undefeated opponents until the end because their quarterback did not turn the ball over once.

Chris Ivory, running back, New York Jets

Ivory kept rolling against the Washington Redskins in Week 6. He led New York’s backs with 20 rushing attempts for 146 yards and a touchdown. In addition to ripping off runs at a rate of 7.3 yards per carry (long of 54 yards), the big back also added three receptions for 50 yards. Ivory’s 196 yards from scrimmage lifted his team to a 34-20 victory, as the Jets moved to 4-1 on the season.

Cameron Wake, defensive end, Miami Dolphins

The Tennessee Titans were stifled by Miami’s defense in Week 6, and Wake had a lot to do with that. Before Sunday, the Dolphins had only one sack on the season. Then, Wake single-handedly brought Miami’s pass rush back to life with four sacks. He also had two forced fumbles in his team’s 38-10 win. The Dolphins played with a renewed toughness under interim head coach Dan Campbell, and Wake’s personal performance served as hard evidence.
