Chargers' Jason Verrett is going to the Pro Bowl, after all

Jason Verrett can finally buy his ticket to Honolulu.

The San Diego Chargers' cornerback is Pro Bowl-bound after he was named at alternate last month. He'll replace star New York Jets cornerback Darrelle Revis.

Verrett, via Chargers.com:

“This is something I’ve been watching since I was a kid. Once I found out, I called my family and they were all hyped about it. This is a huge honor, and I’m looking forward to playing in this game itself the most. To be honest, that’s going to be the most fun part about it all.”

The diminutive but effective Verrett will be San Diego's first Pro Bowl cornerback since Antonio Cromartie in 2008. He's only getting better in his second season.

Verrett finished the year with a team-high three interceptions, 11 pass break-ups, and 47 tackles. He was named the Chargers' Defensive Player of the Year for his efforts.
