Weddle: Chargers need to break this losing streak right now

Published Sep. 30, 2015 11:20 p.m. ET

Eric Weddle isn't used to this feeling around Chargers Park.

His team has lost two straight. And the star safety has been a part of five losses in the last seven games, dating back to last season.

"We we’ve won a lot of games around here," Weddle told ESPN's Eric D. Williams. "We don’t want this to lull (us to sleep) and get used to losing."

It could get worse for Weddle and Co. before it gets better. The team's offensive line is decimated, its running attack is stale, and they haven't stopped the run with any consistency.

There are bright spots -- like cornerback Steve Williams and linebacker Jerry Attaochu -- that Weddle thinks his team can lean on. As a team captain, it's his job to remain positive.

"Try and play better next week," Weddle said. "That’s all you can really do. But let’s not get used to losing. Let’s not let this hang over our heads."
