Report: RG3 would 'very much' like to play for the Rams

The Los Angeles Rams are yet again in the midst of another quarterback quandary. The team signed Nick Foles to a two-year, $24.5 million extension back in August.

They then proceeded to bench the former Philadelphia Eagles quarterback for Case Keenum late in the year.

If that’s not enough, Los Angeles gave Keenum a first-round tender in the restricted free-agent market on Wednesday.

This tender will pay Keenum $3.7 million in 2016, as no team is going to be handing the Rams a first-round pick for his services.

Did we mention that the Rams finished dead last in the NFL in passing yards at 175.3 yards per game last season? Their signal callers also combined to throw 11 touchdowns while compiling a 74.1 quarterback rating.

Enter into the equation a free agent in Robert Griffin III that might very well be interested in joining a quarterback competition in Los Angeles:

Talk about coming full circle.

Remember, the then-St. Louis Rams traded the rights to the second overall pick in the 2012 NFL draft to the Washington Redskins for multiple draft picks, a move that was supposed to set the Rams up to compete in the NFC West.

A very much one-sided trade for the Rams at the time has failed to pay off on the field. After all, here’s a team that’s failed to finish better than third in the NFC West in any of the four seasons since making the trade.

If the Rams do indeed sign the reclamation project that is Robert Griffin III, he will likely battle with both Foles and Keenum for the starting job.

The San Francisco 49ers and Denver Broncos are both said to be interested in RG3. It remains to be seen whether the quarterback’s interest in Los Angeles is mutual.
