Report: Steelers, Kelvin Beachum enter preliminary contract talks

Published Jul. 30, 2015 3:47 p.m. ET

After locking up defensive end Cam Heyward to a long-term deal, the Steelers are reportedly turning their focus to the offensive line and left tackle Kelvin Beachum.

Beachum, a former seventh-round pick, has performed well above his pay grade the last two seasons. The Steelers are hoping to lock up Beachum before training camp as he enters the final year of his rookie contract, according to ESPN.com.

Beachum started all 16 games last season and was rated as the fifth-best offensive tackle in the league by Pro Football Focus. He said his sole focus was football when camp opened on Saturday.

"I’m here to play football. Let the business people take care of the business stuff,” Beachum said.
