RB Stewart inactive for Panthers against Saints

Published Dec. 22, 2013 12:01 p.m. ET

Panthers running back Jonathan Stewart is inactive for Sunday's crucial NFC South showdown against the New Orleans Saints, a game that could determine the division title and who gets a first-round bye in the playoffs.

There are no surprise inactives for either team.

Stewart had been ruled out earlier in the week, but coach Ron Rivera is hoping the former first-round draft pick will be back for the playoffs.

Also inactive for the Panthers are wide receivers Marvin McNutt and Tavarres King, offensive tackle Travis Bond, defensive end Wes Horton, linebacker Dan Connor and cornerback Josh Norman.
