Ravens sign free agent DE Chris Canty

The Baltimore Ravens have signed free agent defensive end Chris

Canty, who spent the previous four seasons with the New York

Giants.

Canty announced the signing Tuesday on Instagram with a photo of

the signed contract, according to the Ravens website.

But it was a tough day for the Super Bowl champions, who lost

free agent linebackers Paul Kruger and Dannell Ellerbe. Kruger

signed with the AFC North-rival Cleveland Browns and Ellerbe agreed

to a five-year deal with Miami.

The 30-year-old Canty was released in February by the Giants.

The 6-foot-7, 317-pounder was a starter the last four years in New

York, but he missed seven games in 2012 with a knee injury. He

finished with 26 tackles and three sacks.

Canty can also play the middle of the line.
