Rams have Bradford on baseball-like pitch count

ST. LOUIS (AP) Sam Bradford showed improved zip on the ball during the St. Louis Rams' fan fest scrimmage at the Edward Jones Dome.

Bradford seems to be reaping the benefits of upper-body training while out with a knee injury.

To keep Bradford's arm strong, the Rams are monitoring his pitch count much as the St. Louis Cardinals would do for star pitcher Adam Wainwright.

The Rams began tracking Bradford's throws when coach Jeff Fisher arrived in 2012.

Both said there's no set limit, but that the information would help gauge progress and performance in training camp.

Bradford said if he's been throwing a lot for a few days, coaches will back him off. But he said that hadn't happened yet.

Wide receiver Stedman Bailey was perhaps the most impressive skill position player at the practice at the game field that drew attendance of 15,723.

Bailey is suspended for the first four regular-season games for violating the NFL's policy on performance-enhancing drugs.
