Steelers LB Shazier out again Thursday night

Published Oct. 1, 2015 12:24 p.m. ET

Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker Ryan Shazier will miss his second straight game Thursday night with a shoulder injury.

Shazier called the injury minor when he initially suffered it at the end of Pittsburgh's Week 2 win over San Francisco, which also was the best performance of his young career. Shazier showed up on the sidelines last week in St. Louis with his arm in a sling.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport says the strength in Shazier's neck and shoulder area is improving, and he should be back in the lineup for Week 5 in San Diego.

The 2014 first-round pick will be the only starter besides Ben Roethlisberger to be inactive. Tight end Matt Spaeth (broken hand) and nose tackle Daniel McCullers (knee) will also miss Thursday's game while corner Cortez Allen is listed as questionable.

Pittsburgh promoted sixth-round linebacker Anthony Chickillo from the practice squad and released defensive end Caushaud Lyons in a corresponding more.

The Ravens will be without starting tight end Crockett Gillmore and starting left tackle Eugene Monroe.
