Steelers' Roethlisberger: No surgery needed on shoulder
Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger does not need surgery on his injured throwing shoulder, which may add even more fuel to the fire of Broncos allegations that he was acting all along.
Roethlisberger, appearing on his weekly radio show on 93.7 The Fan in Pittsburgh, laughed off the accusations, calling them "unbelievable" before revealing that his shoulder is expected to heal on its own.
"It won’t need surgery. I guess the ligaments will, you know, scar up and heal on their own. Obviously, we’ll be dealing with a little bit of pain and some limited movement here for a little bit, but supposedly it will heal on its own.
"The only thing he told me that possibly could need surgery is down the road sometime going in and just kind of cleaning out the arthritis and where that scarring is and things like that, so I don’t foresee any surgeries or anything on the shoulder any time soon."
Roethlisberger said his shoulder is still sore two days after the Steelers' disappointing loss in Denver. He completed 24-of-37 passes for 339 yards without a touchdown or interception and was also sacked three times.
After only practicing the previous Friday, Roethlisberger started off the game by throwing a deep ball on the first play from scrimmage, overthrowing Markus Wheaton down the left sideline. He finished the day 4 for 7 for 121 yards on deep passes, according to Pro Football Reference.
