Watch Philip Rivers' emotional speech to San Diego fans

Philip Rivers has spent the entirety of his NFL career in San Diego. He’s been the face of the Chargers franchise for more than a decade, so his connection to the city and the fans is strong as he and the team move to Los Angeles.

The star quarterback left no doubt about that Tuesday night when he gave an emotional speech at the annual San Diego Hall of Champions dinner. He was attending the event for former teammate Nick Hardwick, who was inducted into the Breitbard Hall of Fame.

“I wanted to make sure I was here tonight for Nick and just really, I don’t know how many more times I’ll be able to stand in front of you San Diego sports people, and really just say thanks.”

“It really was special over the last decade. The only regret I have is not winning it all while we were here. I know some of my teammates are here, that’s something we all wanted to do and get done for this community and our team, and we didn’t do that but you can rest assured we gave it our all every week and fought like crazy for all of you.”
