The Eagles dominate on defense in Week 5 win over the Saints

The Philadelphia Eagles finally got their offense rolling in their Week 5 39-17 win over the New Orleans Saints, but it was their defense that kept them in the game after the offense's initial slow start.

The defense allowed just 19 first downs and 388 yards of total offense, despite the fact that the Saints had 14 offensive drives on the day. The Eagles held the Saints to just two offensive touchdowns, and one came in the final seconds of the fourth quarter with the Eagles leading by 29 points.

The Eagles had an aggressive game plan from the start, and their attacking style worked well in this matchup. The defense finished with 5.0 total sacks and seven quarterback pressures. Prior to Week 5, the Eagles had just 6.0 total sacks on defense through four games.

The key to this game was the four turnovers that the defense caused. The Eagles forced and recovered three fumbles and they intercepted Saints quarterback Drew Brees once as well. Defensive end Fletcher Cox led the way with 3.0 sacks and two forced fumbles.

The Eagles will face a much tougher matchup in Week 6 when the New York Giants come to town. In Week 5, the Giants finished with 525 yards of total offense and 30 points.
