NFL Odds: Ravens big 'TNF' favorites, but spread in play for Browns

The Baltimore Ravens (4–4) broke a four-game losing streak last week by upsetting the Pittsburgh Steelers 21–14 as three-point home underdogs. The Ravens sit in a much different position for this week’s divisional matchup against the Cleveland Browns (0–9) on “Thursday Night Football.” Baltimore enters Thursday as 10-point home favorites at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com.

Baltimore started the season at 3–0 before losing four in a row, and the team’s bye week on Oct. 30 could not have come at a better time.

The Ravens returned to action last Sunday and led the Steelers 21–0 early in the fourth quarter before giving up a pair of late scores. They played much defense off their bye, the brand that made Baltimore such a force when players like Ray Lewis and Ed Reed led the unit.

The Ravens sacked Pittsburgh quarterback Ben Roethlisberger twice, picked him off once and also held running back Le’Veon Bell to a season-low 32 yards on 14 carries. Beating the Browns figures to be much easier on paper, as they have won seven of the past eight meetings straight up, according to the OddsShark NFL Database.

However, Cleveland has gone 5–1 against the spread in the last six matchups in the series on the road, with none of the previous 10 overall decided by more than 10 points.

The Browns are also 2–7 ATS this season, failing to cover their last three since nearly beating the Tennessee Titans in a 28–26 road loss as 7.5-point road dogs in Week 6. They are coming off a 35–10 home loss to the Dallas Cowboys last Sunday as seven-point home dogs and will be trying to break a 10-game road losing streak (3–7 ATS).

One positive for Cleveland though involves the team faring well recently in TNF appearances, going 5–1 ATS in its previous six, including a 24–3 rout of the Cincinnati Bengals as six-point road dogs two years ago.

A couple more key NFL betting trends working in Cleveland’s favor include Baltimore going 1–7 SU in its past eight games after winning as an underdog and 0-5-1 ATS in its last six at home against teams with losing records.
