No team deserves to win the AFC South

Published Oct. 27, 2015 3:30 a.m. ET

The AFC South is the NFL's doormat.

The Colts (3-4) can't beat any team outside the division. Houston (2-5), Jacksonville (2-5) and Tennessee (1-5) are 5-15 combined.

Instead of fighting for first place, they'll be battling for the first pick in the draft.

It's time for Week 7 overreactions.

Andrew Luck is struggling after missing the first two games of his career and Indianapolis has several issues. The Colts fell behind New Orleans 27-0 at home before scoring 21 unanswered points to make the loss a little closer Sunday.

They're 0-4 outside the division and have three tough games coming up against Carolina (6-0), Denver (6-0) and Atlanta (6-1).

By the time they play the Jaguars in Week 14 and get a chance to win their 17th straight game against a division opponent, they could be 3-9 or 4-8. And, they'd probably still be in first place.

At least one South team will get a win this week because the Texans play the Titans.

Here are other overreactions from Week 7:

OVERREACTION: The Cowboys (2-4) will never win without Tony Romo. Matt Cassel replaced Brandon Weeden and threw three interceptions in a 27-20 loss to the Giants.

REALISTIC REACTION: If it weren't for an interception return for a score and a kickoff return for a TD, the Cowboys would have won. It might be tough vs. Seattle and Philadelphia, but they play at Tampa Bay in Week 10.

---

OVERREACTION: Dan Campbell will lead Miami to the playoffs. The Dolphins (3-3) are 2-0 since he replaced Joe Philbin as coach.

REALISTIC REACTION: They beat Tennessee and Houston. Now, the schedule gets real difficult with three straight road games at New England, Buffalo and Philadelphia coming up.

---

OVERREACTION: Tom Brady is good enough to play 10 more years like he says. The 38-year-old Brady is on pace to throw for 5,477 yards, 43 TDs and 3 interceptions.

REALISTIC REACTION: He might be the greatest ever, but he's not doing this into his late 40s. Maybe early 40s, though.

---

OVERREACTION: Todd Gurley is the best running back in the NFL. The Rams rookie has run for more than 125 yards in three straight games.

REALISTIC REACTION: Gurley has been outstanding and he's still working his way back after ACL surgery, but don't put him in Canton after four games.

---

OVERREACTION: The Falcons are lucky to be 6-1 after a 10-7 win over the lowly Titans, who were without Marcus Mariota.

REALISTIC REACTION: They've won four games by six points or fewer, but good teams find ways to win games no matter what.

---

OVERREACTION: Don't write off the Redskins. They're 3-4 and only one game behind in the NFC East after Kirk Cousins led another big comeback.

REALISTIC REACTION: If the division wasn't mediocre, they'd be out of the race. The schedule doesn't help with games at New England and at Carolina sandwiched around a home game vs. New Orleans coming up.

---

OVERREACTION: John Harbaugh will be the next coach to get fired. The Ravens are 1-6 following a 26-18 loss at Arizona on Monday night.

REALISTIC REACTION: Harbaugh won a Super Bowl less than three years ago and Baltimore has been a play away from 3-4 or 4-3.
