NFL power rankings, Week 3: Steelers on top

We are back with your Week 3 NFL power rankings, and you better love it.

It’s always hard figuring out which of the surprise teams are actually for real. Should we believe in the Titans for pulling off a nice comeback win on the road, or are the Giants more for real after beating the Cowboys and Saints?

On the other side, how worried should we be about the Seahawks and Chiefs? Both teams are fine in the standings at 1-1, but the play has been mostly ugly. Then there are the Vikings. Can they continue to win games like this, or are the wheels going to fall off?

Enough of this nonsense. Let’s get down to the rankings. For reference, here are last week’s rankings.

32

Cleveland Browns

0-2

Last week: L, 25-20, vs. BAL
Last rank: 32nd

The Browns are without both Robert Griffin III and Josh McCown. Good night.
31

San Francisco 49ers

1-1

Last week: L, 46-27, at CAR
Last rank: 23rd

The 49ers are 1-1, but they are going to struggle finding more than three wins on the schedule.
30

Buffalo Bills

0-2

Last week: L, 37-31, vs. NYJ
Last rank: 27th

Buffalo fired its offensive coordinator after scoring 31 points. This is the most Buffalo thing ever.
29

Chicago Bears

0-1

Last week: Mon. night vs. PHI
Last rank: 28th

Chicago might be the most boring team in the NFL. What is there to be excited about?
28

Los Angeles Rams

1-1

Last week: W, 9-3, vs. SEA
Last rank: 31st

Los Angeles finally scored, but a touchdown remains elusive. Good times.
27

New Orleans Saints

0-2

Last week: L, 16-13, at NYG
Last rank: 26th

New Orleans either can’t score, or can’t stop anyone. Other than that, things are going great.
26

Indianapolis Colts

0-2

Last week: L, 34-20, at DEN
Last rank: 25th

The Colts played better against Denver, but still looked disjointed and like a team on the brink of oblivion.
25

Tennessee Titans

1-1

Last week: W, 16-15, at DET
Last rank: 30th

The Titans looked bad for most of the game on Sunday, but give them credit, they found a way to win.
24

Miami Dolphins

0-2

Last week: L, 31-24, at NE
Last rank: 21st

Miami was blown out by the Patriots before making it a game late. This isn’t a season that will end well in South Beach.
23

Jacksonville Jaguars

0-2

Last week: L, 38-14, at SD
Last rank: 18th

Jacksonville was supposed to be good this year. It turns out they are the same, pathetic Jaguars.
22

Washington Redskins

0-2

Last week: L, 27-23, vs. DAL
Last rank: 19th

Washington is beginning to make 2015 look like a mirage in the desert. The same can be said for Kirk Cousins.
21

Detroit Lions

1-1

Last week: L, 16-15, vs. TEN
Last rank: 20th

Detroit just had to do it. The Lions were almost 2-0, but couldn’t put away a bad Titans team at home. This doesn’t bode well.
20

Atlanta Falcons

1-1

Last week: W, 35-28, at OAK
Last rank: 29th

Atlanta was able to earn a big road win, lighting up the Raiders for 35 points.
19

Philadelphia Eagles

1-0

Last week: Mon. night at CHI
Last rank: 22nd

Carson Wentz looks like a real player, giving the Eagles their first franchise quarterback since Donovan McNabb.
18

San Diego Chargers

1-1

Last week: W, 38-14, vs. JAX
Last rank: 24th

San Diego is all kinds of banged up, but that didn’t stop it from pounding on the Jaguars.
17

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

1-1

Last week: L, 40-7, at AZ
Last rank: 12th

The Buccaneers ran into a buzzsaw on Sunday. Let’s see if they bounce back this weekend against the Rams.
16

Oakland Raiders

1-1

Last week: L, 35-28, vs. ATL
Last rank: 10th

It’s hard to put the Raiders any higher when they are allowing 500 yards and 35 points per game.
15

New York Jets

1-1

Last week: W, 37-31, at BUF
Last rank: 17th

The Jets could very well be 2-0 right now, and the offense appears to be very dangerous in the passing game.
14

Dallas Cowboys

1-1

Last week: W, 27-23, at WSH
Last rank: 16th

Dallas has something in Dak Prescott. If the defense could ever play football, this team would be a great story in 2016.
13

Baltimore Ravens

2-0

Last week: W, 25-20, at CLE
Last rank: 13th

Who are the Ravens? Yes, they are 2-0, but both wins have been ugly and coming against two rancid opponents.
12

New York Giants

1-1

Last week: W, 16-13, vs. NO
Last rank: 14th

New York put the rest of the NFC East on notice with a terrific defensive showing against the high-octane Saints.
11

Kansas City Chiefs

1-1

Last week: L, 19-12, at HOU
Last rank: 8th

Kansas City has talent, but needs to play much better. So far, the Chiefs have been bad with the exception of 20 minutes against the Chargers.
10

Seattle Seahawks

1-1

Last week: L, 9-3, at LA
Last rank: 4th

Seattle’s offensive has been atrocious, but the defense looks great. Much like the Chiefs, this team will get going.
9

Cincinnati Bengals

1-1

Last week: L, 24-16, at PIT
Last rank: 4th

The Bengals have a brutal stretch to start the season, and now have a huge home test against the Broncos.
8

Houston Texans

2-0

Last week: W, 19-12, vs. KC
Last rank: 11th

Houston was able to handle the Chiefs at home. Now, they get an injury-ravaged Patriots team on Thursday night.
7

Green Bay Packers

1-1

Last week: L, 17-14, at MIN
Last rank: 2nd

Green Bay has ample talent, but the passing game is a mess. Never through we would say that about a team with Aaron Rodgers.
6

Minnesota Vikings

2-0

Last week: W, 17-14, vs. GB
Last rank: 15th

The Vikings may end up crashing down to Earth, but they have fought through injuries beautifully to this point.
5

Denver Broncos

1-1

Last week: W, 34-20, at LA
Last rank: 7th

Denver’s defense is incredible. The offense is nothing special, but that defense… Wow.
4

Carolina Panthers

1-1

Last week: W, 46-27, vs. SF
Last rank: 6th

Denver’s defense is incredible. The offense is nothing special, but that defense… Wow.
3

Arizona Cardinals

1-1

Last week: W, 40-7, vs. TB
Last rank: 9th

After a horrible Week 1 performance, the Cardinals showed who they aeally are against the Buccaneers.
2

New England Patriots

2-0

Last week: W, 31-24, vs. MIA
Last rank: 1st

This is insane. The Patriots are on their third-string quarterback and haven’t lost yet. Bill Belichick is amazing.
1

Pittsburgh Steelers

2-0

Last week: W, 24-16, vs. CIN
Last rank: 3rd

Pittsburgh is averaging 32 points per game without most of its ofense, and the defense is playing solid. Look out.

Check back here next Tuesday for the Week 4 NFL power rankings.
