NFL has a thing for drug testing older Colts players

Matt Hasselbeck is 4-0 as the Colts starting quarterback, and he’s already turned the big four-oh.

The success of the 40-year-old Hasselbeck, who has thrown seven touchdown passes and two interceptions in place of Andrew Luck, is a nice story. Apparently the NFL wants to make sure it’s all on the up-and-up. Hasselbeck’s been chosen for random drug testing, according to NFL.com.

The funny thing is, this isn’t the first time a 40-something Colt has been tested. After making a 53-yard field goal in a playoff game last year, Adam Vinatieri was notified that he was going to be tested. He was 42 at the time.

Maybe this pattern of drug testing really is random, but it’s creating the appearance that the NFL doesn’t believe old guys can succeed in the league without a little help.

And of course it’s blowing up Twitter.  

These old guys should shake their fists and tell the NFL to get off their lawn.
