Report: Jets C Nick Mangold's X-rays on neck come back negative

Published Oct. 26, 2015 3:24 p.m. ET

The New York Jets were given a huge scare on Sunday when center Nick Mangold left the game in the fourth quarter with a neck injury. Mangold obviously did not return after being carted to the locker room as the injury appeared to be serious after he remained on the turf for some time.

Fortunately, the Jets got some good news on Mangold's neck Monday after he had X-rays done. According to Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News and several reports, the X-rays came back negative. Mangold will undergo further testing Monday to determine how long he'll be sidelined for the Jets.

It's a great sign that there was no significant damage to Mangold's neck. He's been a cog on the Jets' offensive line for a decade now and has missed just three games in his career.

When Mangold left the game, he was replaced by second-year center Dakota Dozier, though he was only on the field for three snaps. If Mangold is expected to miss Sunday's game, Dozier is likely to fill in for him once again.
